Tapuae Roa is a 2017/18 regional economic development strategy and action plan for Taranaki.
It focused on unlocking the best opportunities for regional economic growth and on enabling the ongoing success of the Taranaki region. Tapuae Roa focused on growing the talent and entrepreneurial mindsets, skills and capabilities of the wider Taranaki community as the foundation of a truly modern economy.
The Tapuae Roa mission is:
- Taranaki – where talent becomes enterprise
- Kia eke panuku.
Tapuae Roa represents a collaborative effort between New Plymouth District Council, Stratford District Council, South Taranaki District Council, Taranaki Regional Council, Venture Taranaki, Ngā Iwi o Taranaki, the region’s business leaders and the New Zealand government.
Tapuae Roa refers to the footprints across centuries, looking into the past and looking ahead to the future.
Tapuae Roa acknowledges the importance of taking a long –term intergenerational view to drive the right collective behaviour and investment decisions.
The Tapuae Roa Strategy was launched in August 2017. It analysed the challenges facing the Taranaki region and identified opportunities.
The Tapuae Roa Action Plan followed in April 2018. The Action Plan focused on four 'Futures' and four 'Foundations' with priority actions being identified in each area.
